We’ve answered a lot of questions over the years. You’ll not be surprised to learn that we’ve answered some questions more than once.

We’ve collected here the questions asked frequently (sometimes very frequently) and also some of the most important information you should have about the Swim Center.

Is the Pool Open or Closed?

Restoring the pool to a swimmable state has required extensive cleaning procedures and water treatment, but the pool water condition is delicate because of the very warm water and the long, intensely sunny days. Please be aware:

  • The chlorine level in the pool will be at the high end of the safe range.
    • Anyone with sensitivity to chlorine may feel the effects of the elevated chlorine level.
    • The chlorine may discolor or damage swim wear.
    • We always recommend showering before and after using the pool. Showering may help reduce the effects of the chlorine.
  • Algae is persistent and resilient. It can live out of water for months until warm and wet conditions allow it to resume growing.
    • One way to reduce the risk of another algae problem at the pool is to ensure that all swim wear is washed in warm water with soap before it is worn in the pool and then again after swimming.
    • Soap and warm water will help remove residual algae from swim wear.
  • Because of the extensive scrubbing of the pool and the chlorine level, the water will be a bit cloudy. Restoring clarity will take continuous filtering of the water (which we always do) and a drop in the water temperature, air temperature, and sun intensity. We cannot control any of those factors.

If you are uncomfortable with the state of the pool water, do not swim.

Everyone swims at their own risk. The Swim Center is not responsible for any injury or damage occurring from anyone’s use of the pool or other parts of the facility.

Do not use the pool if you are unwilling to accept sole responsibility for your use of the pool.

As of July 4:

  • The pool will open on July 4 at Noon.
  • The pool will close on July 4 at 7:00pm for maintenance.
    • No one may be inside the pool fence during maintenance. If you still are inside the pool fence after 7:00pm, you will be asked to leave and maintenance will not begin until all people are outside the pool fence.
    • If maintenance is delayed, the pool may open later on Sunday or not at all. Maintenance is vital to keeping the pool clean.

For July 5:

  • We expect the pool to open at 10:00am and close at 7:00pm.
    • Please read above regarding the 7:00pm closing time and maintenance.

July 6 and after:

  • Pool opening and closing times will depend on the condition of the pool water and the amount of maintenance needed to keep the pool swimmable.

Please review these pool safety and cleanliness reminders.

If the pool is closed, when it re-opens, we will send an email and change this FAQ.
